Start Up[edit | edit source]
Select The Skyrim Esm[edit | edit source]
First Load[edit | edit source]
- Double Click on Skyrim.esm
- Select Yes To All through all of the warnings
- Press ctrl+S to save
- Save as editorSmoke if you havent saved before
Subsequent Loads[edit | edit source]
- Double right click on editorSmoke so it says Active next to it
Test An Interior[edit | edit source]
Duplicate And Load A Cell[edit | edit source]
- Go to the Cell View window
- Right Click on QASmoke and hit Duplicate Cell
- Double-Click on the new QASmokeCOPY0000 to go to it
- You should see this:
Check The Lighting[edit | edit source]
- Toggle on bright lighting ('A' key) and then turn it off again
- Select the light in the scene (looks like a lightbulb)
- Duplicate it (Ctrl+D)
- Move it to the right over the table making sure it lights the new area
- Press L to view the light's bounds
- With either light selected, hold 'S', left click and move the mouse forward and back to scale the light
- Press L again to toggle off the lighting bounds
- You should see this:

- Press ctrl+E to enter navmesh mode
- In the Navmesh Menu, select Generation->Object-Based Generation
- After it's done it should look like this:
- Select one of the edges, move it around then undo
- Select one of the triangles, move it around then undo
- Select one of the vertices, move it around then undo
- Save (Ctrl+S)
- Press Ctrl+E to exit navmesh mode
Piece Manipulation[edit | edit source]
- Select a kit piece
- Duplicate it
- Move and Rotate it
- Toggle snap and rotation snap ('q' and ctrl + 'q')
- Move and rotate it
- Test the Move, Rotate, and Scale GIZMO by select a level geometry and then cycle between [W] Rotate [E] Translate [2] Scale Keys. Use the handles to test the objects.
- Press 'M' to toggle markers on and off (lights and xmarkers should disappear)
- Note the ladles above the table
- Press the havok button to enable it (highlighted green below) and the ladles should drop
Test An Exterior[edit | edit source]
- Load the TestSmokeWorld Exterior
- Press 'B' to toggle cell borders
- Press 'Alt+T' to toggle trees on and off
- Press 'Ctrl+E' to toggle navmesh (note the squares in the NE)
- Go to Navmesh->Finalize Cell Navmeshes
- After finalizing it should look like this:
- Press 'Ctrl+E' to toggle navmesh off
- Press 'H' to toggle Landscape editor
- Left click over the landscape and move the mouse forward and backward to manipulate the terrain
- Select a texture from the Settings menu and paint some of the terrain by holding down right-click and moving mouse
- Press 'H' again to turn Landscape mode off
Test A Quest[edit | edit source]
Quest Creation[edit | edit source]
- In the object window go to Character->Quest
- Right Click on the empty quest at the top and press duplicate
- Single Click the newly created Copy000 and change the name to testQuestSmoke
- Press 'No' at the first prompt to rename the quest (it seems backwards)
- Press 'Yes' at the second to accept the change
- Double Click on the new testQuestSmoke to open it
Dialogue View Test[edit | edit source]
- Go to the Dialogue Views tab in the quest window
- Right Click on the top white line under EditorID and go to new
- Name the new view ID "testID1" and press ok
- Click testID1 so it is highlighted
- Right click in the large white area and select Create Branch
- Name the branch testBranch and select ok to name the ID testBranchTopic
- Right click inside the testBranchTopic box and select new info
- Type "test" into the response box that pops up and hit ok
- Don't enter anything at the info prompt, just press ok
- Right click in the larger golden square and select Add Topic
- Name the topic testBranchTopic2
- Right click inside the testBranchTopic2 box and select New Info
- Type "test" into the response box that pops up and hit ok
- Don't enter anything at the info prompt, just press ok
- You should see this:
- Mouse over the white box under testBranchtopic, your cursor should turn into a gripping hand
- Left click and hold, drag the arrow down to the white box under testBranchTopic2
