This wiki needs a lot of help..perhaps it was assumed that Skyrim's version can cover the majority of information. --Twilight Sky (talk) 2016-08-14T04:24:50 (EDT)

CloudFlare protection makes editing difficultEdit

I don't know what is different since I was last active on here, but the CloudFlare protection has brought the speed of editing to a crawl. I'm not sure if this is an issue on my end, but I think it's pretty effective at killing the low barrier of entry that is critical for a successful wiki. Can we get someone to tweak the settings for it? I've had 3 edits of mine get swallowed by multiple Captchas. Gilbrilthor (talk) 2018-03-13T12:24:01 (EDT)

Its not just you. A few months back some spammer attacked the site and so bethesda staff tightened the protections. I agree with you though. These protections are punishing legitimate contributors. Scrivener07 (talk) 2018-03-13T23:15:24 (EDT)
You can use the back button on the browser to get your edits back, or if not sure, copy your changes before hitting Save Page. That's what I do. --Rasikko (talk) 2018-03-15T13:10:21 (EDT)
Unfortunately, my experience has been the separate captcha page kills the back button saving my edit. So, for now, I copy and paste everything. So frustrating. Do we know how often a Bethesda staffer moderates? Maybe we can get some dialogue going with them Gilbrilthor (talk) 2018-03-15T21:04:14 (EDT)
I sent below email to Matt Grandstaff @bethsoft.com, he has been very helpful with this site in the past. Scrivener07 (talk) 2018-03-18T16:38:12 (EDT)
Hey Matt. This is Scrivener07 from the Creation Kit website. There has been a concern among users including myself that the cloudflare security settings for the site are interfering with our ability to contribute content. The captcha verifications are excessive and often fail which causes data loss. This is very demoralizing for us when our contributions get lost when submitted. It takes many times longer to complete any task on the site than it should, even including simple things such as navigating from one page to another. The excessive security makes the usability of the site very nightmarish. There are a group of us trying to restore entire categories that are missing and this would be many hours of work even if the site was working optimally. I hope you guys can help us find a solution or join into the discussion. https://www.creationkit.com/fallout4/index.php?title=Talk:Main_Page
I got an email back from Jessica of the sites IT team. They have made changes to the site to make contributing a little easier for us. They have also put out a call for more community sheriffs on this site. This involves ensuring that contributions to the site are inline with site policy and preventing damage or defacement to the site. A sheriff should be knowledgeable in modding and can afford the time and effort to remain active on the site. Scrivener07 (talk) 2018-03-20T09:02:55 (EDT)
CloudFlare is one of our anti-spammer systems, and like such systems it requires adjusting from time-to-time. If you notice additional posting problems, or an increase in spam accounts, please let us know. Cartogriffi (talk) 2018-03-20T09:27:18 (EDT)

Recruitment for Community SheriffEdit

This is a recruitment call for more community sheriffs on this site. This involves ensuring that contributions to the site are inline with site policy and preventing damage or defacement to the site. A sheriff should be knowledgeable in modding and can afford the time and effort to remain active on the site. Prospective sheriffs are approved by Bethesda site staff. Add link to installing Creation KitEdit

This page could benefit with a link to installing the Creation Kit. While this page does not tell the user they need to have both Steam and Fallout 4 already set up prior to download, it does have the download instructions and it is conveniently titled "Creation Kit": https://www.creationkit.com/fallout4/index.php?title=Creation_Kit
