The Bethesda Archive Extractor or B.A.E. for short, is a utility created by jonwd7, to extract Archive Files.

Installation[edit | edit source]

  1. Download and extract the file contents into a new empty folder.
  2. The program may be executed from any folder on your local computer.
  3. Create a desktop shortcut and launch the program.

Usage[edit | edit source]

  1. After installation, click File > Open File...
  2. Navigate to the Fallout 4 data folder.
PC ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data
Playstation/Xbox Make a backup copy of the Fallout 4 installation to an external device. Copy the backup onto your PC. Locate the '/Data' folder in the Fallout 4 directory.
  1. Open a .ba2 file. Example: "Fallout4 - Materials.ba2"
  2. Select all or specific game assets, click 'Extract', and select the 'Data' folder.

Tip: A helpful way to organize creations Make a new folder in '/Data'. For example name it: "MyCreation1". Choose the files you want to modify and copy it into "MyCreation1". This way you keep the original files in their respective place and can refer to them when needed.
