3ds Max is a professional 3D modeling, animation and rendering program by Autodesk. With 3ds extensions installed, 3ds Max can be used to create Model Files and animations for Fallout 4. A student license is available for those who qualify. Autodesk typically grants students a free, 3 year license.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- 3ds Max 2013 has the greatest compatibility with Fallout 4 and the Creation Kit tooling. It is possible to use later versions with the Unofficial 3ds Max Nif Importer-Exporter.
- Blender can be used to import certain file types from websites with Python importers, such as Sketchfab. Then export selected Model File to 3ds Max in a preferred format such as .FBX, .OBJ or .DAE.
