File Extension: .bgsm, .bgem

A material file is used to define the visual appearance of a Model File. The file includes Texture File paths as well as other properties that control visuals. Material files are commonly used to define multiple material sets for a single Model File. The material set to use is specified though defining Material Swap records in a Data File.

Tooling

  • A standard text editor can create and edit material files.
  • Material Editor by Ousnius
  • There are other software projects that provide tooling for working material files.
